I've never understood this whole import thing. Apart from the 2 year warranty, what else is wrong with an import that makes them harder to shift?

In reality, all cars are imported one way or another!

If it's a UK spec import that has no warranty remaining then I can't see how it would matter a jot.

I part exchanged an 'import' when buying new from the VW/Audi garage.
when they inspected the current car and subsequently valued it they never asked me if it was an 'import' so I didnt mention it.

when exchange day came along, all went smoothly, a couple of hours later I got the call saying 'the trade-in value was given on the understanding it was not an 'import''. I said to them, 'all VAG cars are imports, you guys are the experts, you should have asked, its too late now, my budget is spent, goodbye...

It's nice to 'get one over' the dealers for a change...

PS. Xmas is over, lets loose the xmas hats....... :smug:

When I traded in my mk4 at the stealers they spotted straightaway from the spec that it was an import, but said after 3 years it didn't make any difference to the trade it price.  :undecided:

Chaps,

Got a 5dr Manual ED 30 in silver with 17K miles and immaculate.  It's Euro import and full UK spec.  Standard ED30 spec plus metalic.

It's a 57 plate Nov 07 registered and i'm 1st owner.

Any ideas what its worth?

You'll get approx £11K trade, maybe upto £12K if you p/ex against a MK6 GTI for example.

ED30 go quite cheap through the trade for some reason, yet when advertised they have silly mark ups!

OK went on webuyanycar and was offered £13,900 if decared an import and £14,500 if not.

Has to be worth at least 15k in a private sale I would say and likley a bit more if prices on autotrader are a guide....

we buy anycar will come down on price, i can get a uk car 57 reg 22k miles with a few options for 15k from a vw dealer cash with waranty and peace of mind. So anyone buying private obviously will be buying cash so it prob is woth about 13k unfortunatly. Thats not bad tho you have only lost 3.5k a year on a brand new car.

P.s im interested at 13k
GTI manual PP, now sold  :-(

It's definately worth more than £13.5k, even if it is an import with no remaining warranty.

Just take a look on autotrader or pistonheads and show me an Ed30 with those miles for that kind of money??
