Girls Driving Mk2's!
« on: 02 January 2010, 15:37 »
My GF's insurance is due so i've just spent an hour cComparing the Meerkat etc.

My Mrs drives a hot rockin Vitara 1.6i 4U special(?) edition, on a 98 S plate.

I went through all possible legal (honest) and got it down to £315, which is a 5000 mile fully comp policy, cheaper than 3rd party!

But here's the twist, when I got the MK2 she says "I'm having that as mine, can we swap?"....... "NO CHANCE COZ OF INSURANCE".... she's 23, full liscence since 2007, 3 years no claims in her name.

So to show her why, i today ran a quote with her details to highlight to her the insurance issue, fully comp on my MK2 8V GTi which i put into Compare the MArket and sat back ready to laugh at her.......

...... £307!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOW I'M UP SH!T CREEK WITHOUT A PADDLE, AND POSSIBLY COMMUTING IN A 2 TONE VITARA!!!!

I'm 31, full liscence since 95......... 10 years no claims..... HGV driver..... NO ACCIDENTS!

What i'm mainly saying is that if a 23 yr old lad tried to fully comp a MK2 GTi i bet it would be a grand at least!

I mean £300???? I may even get her a MK2!!!!

I best not mention that I've just renewed my 1990 16V insurance for £143 then.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I got mine for £122, fully comp!!!!

The fact that sensible old men like us can insure classic GOLFs is no mystery to me, i do it myself!

The funny thing was the quote i got for my GF was a normal quote for a 23 yr old, usually £1000+

I'm female and my mk2 (8v) still costs £400 a year - and I've had my license 5 years, 3 years no claims, never had any points/convictions/claims, and I'm 24!

And my mk2 is only on a low mileage, no commuting and lives on my driveway at home!

Wtf  :undecided:

Oh yea and that's for fooking 3rd party as well!
