Fischer C-Box Left-Hand Right-Hand Drive
« on: 01 January 2010, 17:11 »
I recently purchased a Fischer C-Box from Germany and when trying to install it noticed it was going to take a reasonable amount of force to fit (It's definately for a Golf MK3 bye the way). I also noticed from an old posting (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=12302.20
) that other people who have purchased these boxes from Germany have a gap of about 2mm at the top right. I've since come across a picture of a cassette box from the UK (first image) were the direction of the lip at the bottom and the curves at the sides are all the reverse of the German CD box (2nd image). I first thought that the image may have been mirrored but then the logo would also be in reverse.
So is it a case that the cassette box is designed for a right-hand drive car and the German CD box is for a left-hand drive car or are all CD boxes shaped the way of the German one? If they are then how much force is necessary to install it as I don't want to break it?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated especially from anyone who has a CD box installed from new and could tell me which way the underside lip slopes etc.

basically you have bought a box for a left hooker, the dash is shaped different on left handed cars, hence why you will see a gap trying to fit a cd holder from a left hand drive car into a right hand drive version,  if you had used a uk version of the cd box you wouldnt have a issue...

I thought that would be the case. It never occurred to me at the time.

i only know this as i was going to fit a US drinks holder which fits in the same place as a C box, and with them been left hand drive and only been made for that market, they do fit but gives a similar issue to what you have with your c box
