Can you even get hold of an Edition 30 or Pirelli edition in Singapore?

If not you would be looking at some serious money to get a standard GTI to a performance level you'd be happy with.

Why does it *have* to have a turbo?
well the reason it has to have a turbo is because in my country, we don't have the freedom of modification. And what I mean by that is, if your car comes stock NA, then you can only mod it the NA way, you can't convert it to FI. The traffic laws here are very tough and stringent. If you're caught with such a mod on the engine, the car will be confiscated. And to make it worse, you'll get a hefty fine plus a jail term.

And another reason it must "have" a turbo is because on my current ride, I actually Turbo'ed it! Thus I would very much like my next car to have a turbo in it!

I suggest you go do some proper research if you though the R32 was a turbo
My apologies if I sound noobish. As a matter of fact I am when it comes to euro cars. I was totally head over heals with the GTI that I forgot the small bit about the R32 being an NA ride  :embarassed:

Sadly, and patheticaly there is no edition 30 here. But there were 2 Perelli's here which are already sold off. And I can bet my last dollar that the owners are holding on tight to them!!!

Could I just ask, kindly pardon me if I sound stupid but, if you were to put the R32 and GTI (either mk5 or mk6) side by side, both stock, who'll have the upper hand?

R32.

The golf GTI mkV is the lighter, more lively of the two.

The R32 has 4wd and is therefore heavier, but is also more powerful.

If you remapped both, the GTI would be faster on the straights, the R32 faster in corners.

It is very much a subjective choice, but when limited to GTI or R32 I'd tip in the favour of the R32......just!

What I meant was, it's fast enough, why would you need to mod it to have a turbo? If you are buying a car to heavily modify it I would have thought you would have realised the R32 wasn't a turbo before you began considering it?

I do agree that a 3.2l v6 is fast, no doubt about that. But the reason I'd like a turbo car is because on my current car(na), I turbo charged it. I would love to get an R32 but after awhile I'll revert back to doing what I did before. Wasting time and money charging it. I would definately super charge it if my place gave me the freedom of modifications but sadly I don't. So the only way for me to enjoy the golf will the either the mk6 or mk5! Sadly the r32 isn't charged! It'll be a monsterous whip otherwise lol!

Do you think it would be better if I'd to get the mk5 and have done to a stage 2 or maybe even 3, to a  mk6?

What are your thoughts and opinions?

There's a PI at my place that has stock on the pirelli gti. So now I wanna ask you guys, given a choice between the Pirelli gti and the new mk6, which would you decide on?

My heart says the Pirelli gti all the way! 

You carn't really compare an Evo or an older shape Sti with any of the Golf's they are just simply a better car. Not it terms of luxury maybe, Put performence wise they just blow the others away

true! I agree but they don't have the elegance and style and interior quality as compared to the gti's. I went down to take  a look at some evos and subarus, bhp aside, they look good on the outside, but the moment i sit in, all my mojo is lost! 

But in the gti, everywhere looks and feels good! 
If i'm going to keep this car for a good while, I want to feel good all the time!  Even when i'm at my bad days, once I sit in my car, it's got to make me feel good and happy again! 

Personally I'd opt for the Pirelli Edition.

K04 power and a few mods with a remap would make it a MKVI eater anyday
