Possible window problem.
« on: 17 December 2009, 12:08 »
i've read on here more times than i can remember about the clips on the window breaking and the window dropping.....

my window is still in place (well it was when i parked it) but this morning when i tried to open the passenger window there was a nasty slow ripping kinda sound followed by what sounded like the window motor moving but the window stayed still.

could that be the clips breaking or something else?

it seems ok as when i stopped and the car had defrosted a bit it all worked ok - just worried that it's half broken or something.......not the time of year for a window to drop when i hit a big bump...... :undecided:
a work in progress......someday i might think i'm happy with a car....maybe

its possible you may have only moved the glass from the clips as they only rest in place

in future if you've had frost don't attempt to open your windows  unless you run some luke warm water around the seals

Aye, don't try to open them when they're frozen!

You said it works OK now?  If it was frozen, when you tried to wind it down could the belt (or whatever's in the mechanism) have simply slipped on the motor?

so if i drop the window a bit and can lift the glass up that's normal? - just trying to work out what i can check to make sure i've not f**ked it up too much.

yea i remembered that right after i heard the really nasty sound........ :embarassed:

i saw the poly carbonate windows on your post - they look awesome but not too good for a pure road car like mine - that said i wish i could get mine to track level......
