I noticed you're only in West Yorkshire. Why don't you visit Stattlers in Sheffield and have a try in the golf they have which has had a little remap

they also give you good advice on the best way to spend your pennies!!!!

ive been in your car and can confirm you need to convince mrs mcavity for bigger brakes! its your and you familys safety in mind! id love to get some bigger brakes but will have to wait a few months as i spent too much already! the S3/ R32 brakes will probably be my next move, id rather the VWR set but at 1500 spondoolies its too much!  :undecided:

oh and all will be revealed in a couple of weeks when its built mate! and its cost me less than the op's looking to spend, just! was planning on not saying anything until after we go to santa pod! but im finding keeping shtum difficult!  :lipsrsealed:

DPG - get yourself the remap from Revo asap as you will get the select plus switch free for a crimbo offer, this is a valuable tool to adjust your settings to get the best out of the map

Surely you'd only notice a difference if you losing boost with your existing DV? Or does the uprated one make a difference anyway?

So, i have a standard GTi on 17's

Me too! :afro:

What would be your first mods / upgrades?

Mine are:-
1) Forged/Revision 'D', DV,
2) Better Rubber,
3) Better Brakes,
4) RNS510,
5) Colour-Coding work,
6) Re-Map,
7) 18".

All that lot might be over £1k, but that's my order of work & i'm sticking to it!

Personally, the last thing I'll get round to doing is the alloys. I think the MKV looks fine on the standard alloys and the ride is just about a decent compromise between comfort and handling.

I might swap the 18" idea for a refurb & powder coat. I'm not sure yet & SWMBO really get's the final veto on any expenditure.  :undecided:

MKV GTI | Reflex Silver | 5-dr | Anthracite 17" | Manual | Highline MFD | Cruise | Revision 'D' DV | Dirty Pipes |

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

I would say Monza's, and then get the RNS done second to that,
Nothing worse than those horrible 17's. Trust me, I got rid of mine after about 3 weeks!

Yea it made a huge difference to mine, my cars a 55 plate changed it to the revision version bout 4 months ago and i can honestly say i was shocked at what it gave back to the car. At least check the state of your existing one for splits and while your at it put the new one in lol  :smug:

The old one is like a rubber glove!!

The new one is like a Armour plated glove!!!

Don't change the wheels.  The oem 17" are best for ride, speed and corrosion resistance (and cheaper tyres).
Get a bluefin remap and swap it back to the map supplied with your car when you go in for a service.
Change the headlight bulbs to the nice bright type (about £20).

With the remaining £550 search the dvla numberplate website for a decent number.  I paid £500 for mine and was offered £2000 by reg transfers a year later.
