Afternoon all
« on: 09 December 2009, 15:49 »
Hi, i own a mk2 8v gti and a bandit 650 which are both great fun but they cant stay. Early next year im moving out with the mrs as we have a little nipper on the way, i'll be moving quite far from work and my family so im gonna need a new car. A diesel makes sense as they have bags of torque while still returning good mpg.
I'll have around 4k to spend next spring time so the car at the top of my shortlist is a golf gt tdi 150. The thing is ive read so many things go wrong with them, looking at some of the threads on this forum and other car review sites. They dont seem to live upto the reliability image that VW has.
What do you guys think? should i get one or go for one of the others on my shortlist.....
Bmw 330d
Mondeo ST 2.2tdci
A4 tdi
...any other suggestions?

Whats the point in getting a 150bhp petrol when the diesels have 150bhp and lots more torque and still 50mpg.
Also there will be no money for remaps with clutches or other mods as all my money will now be going on nappies

I've got a 1.9 gt tdi 130 and it goes well even after all the abuse it's had
mpg average is between 45 and 55 depending how hard it's driven

+ a 1.8T Bora Sport(R-Tech\'ed to 213bhp)
