Mowlamb, you're not too far away from me (London) & there are currently a few 1.8ts for a low price if you fancied the traveling.

Mines done 114k now (2001 1.8t) and it runs brilliantly, as said FSH counts for alot with these motors, mine has FSH and it was a fleet car when it was new and covered over 60k in it's first 3 years which was mainly motorway mileage and came with £3.7k worth of bills just from those 3 years alone which was reassuring when i bought it...

Don't worry too much about milage. Believe me lots can go wrong regardless of miles on the clock!

Copy and paste of a post of mine from elsewhere:

I got mine in Aug after a bit of searching... Paid £2250 for it - 99 V plate, 127k but lowered, Audi TT wheels, powerflex rear bushes and dog bone, new engine mounts all round, new window mechs and bits and bobs which are prone for failing, tinted, remapped etc.. so not a bad buy despite the milage. It drives MUCH better than milage suggests also. Don't worry about mods if the car is GOOD. I was avoiding modded cars but got mine from a aircraft tech from the RAF who had it for 3 yrs and it was well looked after. Got it a bit cheaper as cambelt was due but thats getting done soon. Only had minor niggles which seem a common thing anyway regardless of age, milage etc!

If this is of use by all means print and use it, something I collated when looking @ the Golfs to buy...
