DIY W8 light
« on: 02 December 2009, 19:31 »
Decided to have a go at doing a DIY W8 mod with a few LED's fitted into the standard light.
So I got some 3mm red LED's off ebay. Tried to remove the interior light today but broke the bl**dy thing
Anyway, glued it back together for now and fitted the LED's (note that the earth wires are soldered to the wrong place here, they should go to the brown wire going into the light)

You can see where its been glued
I was going to put them into the lens part but decided not to in the end. I'll put it into the car soon and see what its like. I did try it on a battery and it did look good
If I like it I'll get a new light and do it properly, So if anyone has a spare interior light let me know please
Mike.

Finished off by fitting the light today and running the wire to get the feed from the headlight switch.
Really pleased with how it looks and it can be dimmed using the normal dimmer like the rest of the lights.
Have took a pic but didn't come out to well.

Its REALLY easy to do mate,  2 x 3mm LED's off ebay, a drill and a 3mm drill bit. about 1.5m of cable and a few connectors.

Sounds like you should do a write up for the how to section matey  . I assume it worked out a lot cheaper than buying an actual W8 light?
