Where have all our GTi's gone ????
« on: 30 November 2009, 13:14 »
I'll have mentioned in a previous post about a girl who works for us who lives near Milton Keynes.

She paid a personal visit to VAG's UK HQ in Milton Keynes recently to get some answers where her Scirocco was after getting jissed around by her dealer.

I spoke with her last week and she said the company carpark was pretty much full of shiny new-ish examples of Wolfburg's finest including a fair wack of 09 and 59 GTi's / GTD's.

I just wonder what preferential treatment staffers at VAG get to allow them access [maybe ahead of the retail game] to the wares that most of us seem to have to wait ages to get our hands on?.

She's expecting her 'Roc on Thursday as it appears [though not confirmed] /her/ car was sold on to another dealership ....

I would think most of the staff cars are pre-ordered some time before launch. The cars then go to in house auctions after a few months (when VW can claim the VAT back) where they are sold to dealers.
But it's an interesting thought and insight as to whats parked up in MK HQ.

My personal view is that VW are playing clever with the uncertain world market and are deliberately under producing cars so as they don't have any danger of ending up like GM and can keep the unions happy with no redundancies in the pipeline.
Plus as mere customers we don't really know how many of their suppiers went under in the last 12 months which would give them a huge headache. In the meantime VW have the enviable position of being able to charge what they like for what ever they like.

Like any car company there will be an employees lease scheme. The prospect if a GTIfor sillymoney will  easily generate lots of interest, especially from younger people because insurance tends to be included. Years ago all the apprentices at vauxhall ran round in vectra or astra gsi models for under£30/ week!

Is it the same will all new cars i.e GTD's, scirocco's etc?

To cut a long story short ive had a lot of issue's with my GTI and its been rejected but the dealer's saying i cant order a new gti as there isn't any available.

Really dont know what to expect but keeps telling he's working on a proposal which is going to be put to me in the next couple of day's.

If it aint a new GTI or a R20 at a discounted price he's wasting his time!

  Good question
Originally this week!
But i no longer even have a provisional build week. Alot of August orders have suffered in the VW factory delays and are now getting provisional build weeks of end of Jan mid Feb. (see august order thread http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=135785.0 ) So im guessing mine looks like will be end of Feb build time so i may endup getting it in March but thats simply a guess at this time.  My dealer does not know and as the computer system is not much help and just lists it now as a 'factory order' they are just simply sorry and as unhappy as me but theres not a lot they can do about it, its the factorys fault so im not going to shout at them like every other customer at the moment is.
