dont have a turbo model but would agree with you there the amount of extras from re-mapping, dump valves and other little bit and bobs is alot greater than the list of stuff available tfor the v5, hey not saying its a bad car or nowt guy!! ;D

Along similar lines to original thread, but anyone got any good or bad stories about a V6 4 motion. Like the thought of one when (and if ) I replace my mk3 GTI......and when the piggy bank grows!!

Git :D

I'd take the V5, mainly as Autocar said a V5 on sports suspension handles better than the GTi Turbo, a sentiment backed up by evo and Car magazine.

Modifications -

1 x Kenwood KDC-7024M
1 x Dull Aluminium Golf Ball Gearknob. Clearly worth about 10bhp on its own.

I still think a normally aspirated engine will last longer. Only time will tell..  8)

What about a PD?  :o

My PD 150 has more torque than the V5, the 1.8t and the V6 4motion.

In terms of tuning, with a ?350 gizmo you can have 190 bhp and 270-odd lb ft of torque.

It will also be cheaper to run than the others, with economy at twice what any of the others will achieve under hard driving.

I alsways think that the 0-60 time is a fairly useless benchmark in ascertaiing a cars performance, I prefer in-gear times. Compare a PD150 with any of the others on this and you'll see just how quick they are.

Well worth a test drive.  ;)
