That is good.

Who would you use to chip the car?

My GTD is due into the dealer by the end of this week but I won't put it on the road until January. I can't wait because I ordered it in the middle of July!

Have you done anything else to the car?
I love my GTD

Do they have the same suspension as the GTI?
52 mpg is very good, I think GTI's get about 32 mpg, over 12,000 miles you would save about £700 on fuel.

Think the GTi is 7mm lower at the front (and wider track?) but otherwise pretty much the same.

I get more like 41mpg in my GTD (only 800 miles though and getting slightly better each week) and 50mpg on the Motorway.  My Mk5 over the same commute (B roads and lots of hills) was more like 25mpg and the Mk6 GTi I test drove was about the same (probably not run in though).

That's great  -  I'm happy that I've ordered the Gti but it's certainly an order that comes from my heart and not my brain. Enjoy in good health and safety.

It's worth another £700 a year not to have a diesel

Seriously though, and I really hate to say this, the GTD is an excellent car. And I prefer the monochrome seat fabric in the GTD to the GTI. Suspension-wise the only differences are the ride height and the spring and damper rates. But like all diesels the GTD feels quicker than it actually is, so definitely needs a remap.

Ive got a GTD supposedly waiting at the dealers for me, just trying to get a collection/delivery date sorted. Been waiting for it since mid July!!! so I am well and truly boucing off the ceiling now waiting for it.

Hope its worth the wait. Previously had MK4 2.0 'GTI', MK4 1.8T GTI and MK5 140 GT TDI. Hope it compares well to these. Would absolutely love a new GTI but would cost me about £40-50 a month more to buy and a tank of gas a month so just couldn't stretch that far!!

What colour did you get? mines candy white.
MK4 2.0 GTI!, MK4 1.8T GTI, MK5 GT TDI 140, MK6 GTD.....loved em all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you could do a heck of a lot worse than the GTD  -  reviews say it's a great car  -  enjoy it.
