James, I notice you are from Newcastle as I am. Did you order your car from Benfield at Silverlink as I did.
However I see you ordered in December, I ordered in september and it looks like we get delivery about the same time.I'm pleased for you but how can this be, is it just luck of the draw or does it depend on colour or spec etc?

Scotland 67 is from Newcastle?!  makes sense...not!

I am in Newcastle but I ordered the car from Pulman in Durham  -  I went to Silverlink Benfield first but they didn't have a Gti for me to test drive  -  Pulman in Durham had one and, in fact, the salesman, Mike Simm, drove the car to Newcastle (twice) for me to test drive  -  so, obviously, I ordered the car though him. Great guy, great service. Whether I do see the car at the end of this month, we'll have to wait and see but if you and I take delivery at roughly the same time, it could have something to do with the spec  -  I've heard it makes a difference  -  I've ordered a carbon grey 3-dr DSG with cloth interior, RCD510 with Dynaudio speakers, parking sensors and verious other small bits 'n' pieces  -  perhaps a sun roof, leather, ACC and RNS would have pushed out the Build Week  -  I don't know. Good luck  -  keep us in the pic....

My views contrats with those above.

I spoke with Benfield who were pretty much ok though didn't want to negotiate that much, but Pullman Durham wouldn't do anything over the phone.

In the end, I used neither [maybe that's why I've been waiting so long!!] but the deal I got from a financial perspective [~ -12%] was more important.

at the moment, Golf Gti Mark VI's are as rare on the road as Ferraris and Lambos (Ferraris and Lambos, by the way, are rare in Newcastle)
A Ferrari crosses the Tyne Bridge most mornings going from askew road straight across toward the baltic. There is also one around teamvalley. Im yet to see a mk6 GTI on the road

Hope you're right ! After asking the salesman on Monday AND yesterday whether I should get an MOT for my p/x car which expires on Sunday, he eventually got back to me at half 2 today (after I tried to get hold of him) to tell me my car was now in the country but would not be ready in time for me to pick it up before things expire... I asked him why he couldn't have told me when I asked him repeatedly before and he skirted around the question.

Thanks for that mate- now I have to take tomorrow afternoon off to get my car MOT'd- the dealer had said he could get it done for me when I mentioned this a few weeks ago but has now decided not to help me- and I also need to get temporary car insurance because that runs out on Sunday. To say I am Pi$$ed off is an understatement..

I told him there had better be some additional compensation for this icing on the cake to the saga.. At the moment I honestly wish I had never dealt with VW- the customer service is beyond abysmal IMO

You make sure they pay for all that now, especially if the car is way over due!!!! I had to get two new front tyres for my part exchange and I won't be leaving til I get the total amount returned which I have been told will happen. The whole reason I ordered a car when I did was to avoid having to put tyres on but with my little three month delay of the GTI it didn't really pan out that way

James, thanks for your views.I was born in Scotland but i have lived here since 1970, so i am an adopted Geordie.
My GTI is virtually bog standard, tornado red 5 door only option cruise control. Benfield gave me a good trade in price and after I said the price to change was over my budget they knocked a grand off the new car if I signed up that day.Result!
I too have the present car badly needing 2 new tyres and the display constantly advising me a service is due .
Looks like earliest I can expect delivery (bw11) is early April.

I would not blaim VW for this past mess i would blaim that dealer group. I would not trust anything they say to you unless it is in writing. You have been stung more than once by them

My update.
No news could not get through again today in time
Oh and to add insult the bank has locked down my bank accounts after i tryed to pay someone (for somethig for the new car) via a BACS transfer and they also want me to call them. FFS i think this car is really testing me.
