To be honest I'm not sure what the 499 is all about :undecided:.

However the picture they have supplied is a H7 bulbs and are identical, although I wouldn't go on the picture. Id say its a pretty safe bet that they will fit. My understanding is that there is just one bulb per HX model. the 499 might just be the long winded way of H7 which is what most people use. That is a cracking price.

I am slightly concerned by the 1 review at the bottom ? ? ? Not sure what he is on about.

:edit: a bit of Googleing has shown they will fit ;) go for it.

I love my Philips bulbs, great for this time of year - but am getting quite irritated by the number of drivers coming the other way who flash me thinking my full beam is on! I am beginning to wonder whether my lights are out if alignment in some way. Does anyone else have a similar problem?

Another mk5 driver I know with Phillips bulbs has been getting people flashing him too. Could well be the alignment as it has never happened to me. That said I should probably get my alignment checked anyway, to make sure.

Changed the main and dipped lights earlier.

Thanks for all your help. Looking foward to when it gets dark.

It may be a funny import thing (lights are on all the time) but i couldnt test the main beam properly as flicking the stalk on didnt turn them on..... Do to the light sensors know when it gets dark and only allow you to turn them on then....? Flashing the lights works fine.

I am hoping all will be fine when i drive to work and its not another trip to the stealers.....

They could have the DRL function activated where the low beams are on dimly all of the time until (AFAIK) you turn the switch to fully on. It can be reset to normal with vagcom.
