RNS510 Voice integration.

All phone functions work through the RNS510 i.e phone, call, number, speed dial.

Yes works like the BMW system,  the 2660 is a beta version but there is that many people with it im surprised VW haven't turned round and said cheers lads let us know what you think and we can make changes for the proper release

Why has this or any other f/w update got on the internet if VW didn't want it on there vehicles,  My car is out of warranty any way so thats not a big issue

Gilly Ive not found a good place to put the second mics but think VW may be making a roof panel with space for 2 mics in the near future?  if you look there is 2 grilles for the mics already...Audi already have 2 mics running for the phone and voice control.

Cheers Darren. Im quite sure im running f/w 2660. So does that mean Im just missing a mic to get voice activation??

My current mic is installed behind the rear view mirror, and although its visible, doesnt stand out at all, so I would probably still have space in one of the grills you mention (i only noticed them yesterday would you believe ). when I spoke to VW Leeds regarding anything to do with the RNS510 they looked at like I was from another planet!!  :embarassed:

Leeds VW are a bunch of cowboys,  Graeme in the parts is the only decent lad and Kev one of the techs.

Yes gilly you just need the mic Kufatec do it for £39 with mic plus your postage I think ive got 2 left which you can have 1 for £40 save you the stupid amount on postage.

Sorry Gilly only just read this, let me know when your thinking of dropping round and ill go and collect a loom and sort it out for you,  The voice control needs activating in the RNS510 so will need coding but no charge mate.

So just to clarify so that I get the right bits......
I am getting a version B RNS510 which I have then seen a CD on Ebay with a mic which updates tho F/W 2660 which I assume I just play on the head unit? it says that if my car has not got telephone pre wire then I need that, how easy is that to fit and where can I get it? and how can I tell if I have it?

Just an update for others in case they were keeping an eye on this one. Darren came around on friday and fitted the mic and recoded for me. works an absolute treat!!!

Not sure of many of the commands as yet as I havent had time to have a play or find a manual... but certainly beats trying to use the touch screen whilst driving

Vagcom was also used to enable the auto opening of all doors from one click of the key fob (used to annoy the hell out of me). Another cool function that darren enabled was the auto rain function.... great if you leave the windows open and it starts to rain, as it automatically closes them for you

RNS 510 navigation system with integrated voice control

The voice control is enabled by either the multi-function steering wheel or the head unit.
A choice of commands on the head unit will enable you to say what you want
The Navigation commands are: navigation, map, enter country, enter city, enter up to five digits of postcode, enter house number, enter junction, activate route guidance, stop route guidance.
The Radio commands are: channel (name), channel (number), frequency, next channel, previous channel, bandwidth, channel list, memory list.
CD commands are: CD, next CD, previous CD, title (number), next title, previous title
