Mk5 Golf GTi Problem
« on: 10 November 2009, 22:41 »
Hi all new to the forums and have a Problem with my mk5 golf GTI 2.0 standard engine

I bought the car brand new last year had it about 16 months now, went for first service on its 1 year birthday however ive recently been having some problems and am wondering if anyone has had the same problem before i take it back to the garage tomorrow?

basically the engine has started cutting out on me no warning or warning lights on the dash or message on the computer. It seems to be totally random (doesnt matter if the engines hot or cold) only simularity is its when im setting off going from 1st gear to 2nd, then start to accelerate and pow the engine cuts out and wont start again for about 5minutes. then it sudenly restarts. only once while trying to get the engine to tick over have i got a messgae on the dash saying something along the lines of STOP OIL PRESSURE LOW. I check my oil levels every couple of weeks or so and top up when required.

It seemed to start happening when i topped up the oil a couple of weeks ago, i put the oil in the garage i went to said was for the car, (could the oil be too thin or would you say this is a ECU problem?

cheers in advance
Anthony

You need to get it scanned either by someone local with VAGCOM or by the dealer.

A few weeks back, my car cut out without any warning whatsoever. Restarted the ignition and drove off, only for it to happen again. It took four or five restarts to get it into the local supermarket carpark and thence to dealer by way of RAC recovery.

Turned out to be a faulty fuel pressure sensor which was under warranty (but relatively cheap fix anyway compared to say a new fuel pump!).

Don't think it's likely to be the oil. What oil did you use anyway?
