pretty powerful for a gassless, not done arc before but from what i know it would be alot harder than mig
i got a 160t clarke gas mig@ work + its actually verry good
you could always convert your welder to gas, all you need is the handle off of a gas one+ reverse the polarity of the earth+torch, lots o ppl have theirs so they can switch

I have done 1/2 inch thick steel pipes with arc, hard to learn but easy when ya got the knack!

I find arc better for seam welds but mig better for tacks and spot/point welds.

Have tried a gas mig and dont like em. My mate who has one usually ends up borrowing my gasless!
Think its what you get used to really.

yeh fair enough, ive only used gas mig + find it really easy once you get the settings right, done everything from car body panels to 8mm thick plate on farm machinery

Speaking for myself I would only do that kind of work on my own car in case I fecked up! Then I'd have to pay to put it right!
