Drive shaft swappsies
« on: 02 November 2009, 16:14 »
Managed to get a gear box from a 1.4 Seat Ibiza, which I'm going to fit to my 1.3 this week end.

Got the box and both drive shafts for 50 sheets which I was happy with.

Anyone know if the Ibiza drive shafts will be a straight swap for mine? Will they fit?

I'm pretty sure they will fit, since the ibiza has the same wishbones & hubs as the MK2 (4 stud model right?)

once you have the box, measure both shafts and that should tell you if it will work or not :)

Yeah the Ibiza was 4 stud.

I'll offer my box and shafts next to the Ibiza's when I've got it out.

I'm gonna change the clutch while its in bits too.

What are the odds on my car having any drive come Saturday evening???

I admire your blind optimism in my mechanical skills John.......

I just wish I shared them.

In all seriousness I'm sure it'll go fine, in fact I'm looking forward to it. The little motor's been off the road for 5 years and I've been waiting ages to get my teeth into her!!!
