Told yesterday that my car has arrived in the UK (Sheerness) and I should be able to collect it next Saturday.

Just over three months from order. Been without a car for two weeks as I sold my previous car, so really looking forward to getting it.

Used the free seven day insurance, but need to arrange my own.

Only thing i dont like is that fact that the xenon bulbs are on as the DRL's. Tried turning them off but it doesn't seem to work for xenons.

I think you can turn them off with vagcom coding.  I'm sure I read that on the Ross-Tech site, but I can double check.  Where about are you Davie?

Hi there, not been on much over the past few days. I'm in lanarkshire

the implication being, Davie, that OEM music options are not usually as good as the equipment one can buy from specialist retailers  -  correct? The feedback on the Dynaudio has been very encouraging.
Enjoy.

Hi james, i totally agree and have always looked at aftermarket rather than factory fitted. The way i look at it, if you were to fit everything yourself, you could probably get a better system for the mone. However if you were getting an audio shop to fit it, then i doubt you could match the quality for the money, IMO Hope you enjoy it

You won't have to worry Dave as Dynaudio are a serious speaker maker from Denmark. You can only buy Dynaudio speakers from specialist Hi Fi dealers selling equipment like Linn , Niam ,ARCAM and the like. Will be far superior to boss that's for sure. I heard them in a Volvo and they sounded amazing. This from a man who plays Vinyl through a full Linn  hi fi,
On Order Golf GTI 5 Door Manual - Pearl Black - 18' Vision Alloys - Goodyear F1 Asymmetric Tyers - Sunroof - Xenon Lights - Touch Screen Cd Player With Dyneaudio amp and speakers - Folding Wing Mirrors - Dealer Fit - Steel VW kick plates - Front And Rear Mud Flaps - Sill boot protector - Boot liner - 3 year Service Plan - Carpet Matts With GTI Logo And Red Pipping.

Hi Captain:
You are a man after my own heart.
I mostly play Vinyl through my Pink Triangle, SME Series V, Meridian, Proac System. All heavily modified with silver wiring! Even my CD player has been heavily modified and really sounds high end and quite superb.
I really regret that I did not order a Dynaudio System The standard one is OK but not good enough to listen to my Mahler, Brahms, Wagner, Bruckner etc, etc. Stupid penny pinching is to blame.
Unfortunately, I will have to sort this out at some later stage.
Damn.

wow that's what you call good gear am1w. You can't beat listening to a good peace of music through a quality system with a nice glass of wine. God I can't wait to get home , I'm stuck at deep sea just now dreaming of these type of nights with my wife. Not just listening to music with the wife mind  Three days after I get home I pick up the car

Hi Captain:
The Hi Fi at home sounds good when I have the time to listen and enjoy. Accompanied with a glass of good red, it is Heaven!

Managed to tweek the bass, mid and treble of the car's sound system. Sounds much better now on classical music. But I will have to upgarade once I have the RNS 510 + Bluetooth fitted.

Got the bonnet re-aligned today at the the bodyshop. Took them 40 minutes and the job is perfect. However, as is usual, there was some muck all around the bumper and the VW logo obtained a few surface scratches. These I removed with Halfords Glass polish.

My VW dealer is really very helpful and the Warranty Manager (female) is quite a looker and extremely knowledgable. The Service Advisor is also quite wonderful.
I think I am going to enjoy the car even more.

The car now has a faultless finish, no rattles and a wonderful engine.

BTW, BG Products probably make the best fuel additives!

See links below:

Love the 'comfort' setting on the ACC.
The roads might look very awful but feel remarkably smooth!

Glad to hear you got your bonnet sorted out. VW quality control seems questionable if some of these threads are anything to go by , though most seem to do with the aliment of the bonnet. Thankfully these sort of problems can be fixed at the dealers
I'm a believer in fuel addictive having been using one on my diesel for a good few years. Stopped the smoking when accelerating hard so will be using one with the GTI. a cleaner engine is a more efficient engine. How long before your engine can be opened up and the fun factor put into your driving. I can't wait to be driving a petrol engine again , especially an engine such as the GTI one. Had a shot of my sister-in-law's Mini Copper S, the figures for that car are not far short of the GTI. It put a big grin on my face until I stopped at some shops and got some strange looks from passer bye's as I got out the mini. I'm 6'3 so it must have looked a bit odd I suppose.

Hi Captain.

That must have been a squeeze in a mini!

I spoke too soon regarding the bonnet. It is not quite perfect as it is now slightly proud of the wing on the driver's side (offside). Previously it was the other way around. I phoned the bodyshop, and they were very apologetic. It is owned by a very nice lady! I knew deep inside that it was an impossibility to get a perfect job from a bodyshop first time!

I will go back tomorrow morning for the very slight adjustment. What a pain.

I will open her up after after 1000 miles. Car has already done approximately 300 miles (250 delivery miles!). So far, keeping the revs below 3000 rpm. The engine is wonderful and gets faster and smoother by the day and is very refined. Love it. You are going to have the time of your life with your car.

Check your car very carefully when you collect, especially the bonnet alignment. Seen quite a few at the dealership where this is not quite right.
