Milltek too loud

my mk2 2.0 bvh 8v had a new 2.25" milltek. it was so loud, it had to go. i mean it was embarrassingly loud. the only time i liked it was on overrun. poping and banging.

i then went to a 2" jetex system, and it sounds perfect. a subtle presence at idle, and like that all the way through the rev range. the induction of the airbox is more noticeable. and it made more power and torque on the same rr. just from the exhaust. made it so more drivable.

iv now got a 16v abf in there. and you know what? its quieter than the 8v was! thats without a cat too.  its just how a milltek is im afraid.  was the same on my zetec-s.

one persons loud is anothers quiet and vice versa.

I have mk3 8v gti and have a miltek exhaust and sportscat and the miltek is nice low burble but not to loud at all.

I would want around £170 for the cat back so i can get another s/s or standard exhaust.

its strange because i heard a mk2 with a milltek. it was perfect. thats why i got mine. i think there may be a quality issue here as there are alyways mixed results. my 1.6 zetec-s had the full race system. cams too. 4-1, sports cat and 2 box system. it was quieter than the mk2's. still loved to pop and bang though.

id seriously look into either supersprint ££££££ or jetex. the jetex may be 2.5", but will still be quieter than the milltek

yh i do like it but i think its a little loud, i might go for a jetex 3 box system because there just a little louder than stock.

I ended up taking my Milltek off as it was just too loud on my Mk3 - with a cat!
Fitted a Supersprint, and it's better.

Fitted the Milltex to a VR6 and it was perfect...
