I always thought the 3 door looked sportier but my 5 door has really grown on me.  I went for 5 as we have a new baby but ,my 10 and 8 year old didn't have any problems getting in and out of the back of my Scirocco but I found getting in and out of it a pain with the long doors and lower roofline and big seat bolsters.  Golf much better than Scirocco in every regard and 5 much better than 3 (for me).

he he he I hate it that if you had 3 passengers and everytime say you are dropping your kid at school and its raining... you as a driver or the front passenger will always get wet... again ha ha ha... so 5 doors will save you from being wet again and again...

3 door looks sportier, but defo one for the younger generation.

an older guy/ girl in a 3 door looks wrong.

5 door says you're a family man with responsibilities.  much more classy.

3 door says you're selfish and don't care about your passengers.  or that you're clinging on to your teenage years.

Gti Mark VI  -  I prefer the look of the 3-door to the 5-door but, as a family man with kids, can I consider the 3-door when only the 5-door can have rear seat belt warning facility and rear side airbags?
Got a Freelander 2 as well but I don't want the Golf to be put aside everytime we go out as a family.
if u look properly the 3 door is slightly different to the 5 door in the design shape of the side rearend windows.
if you're a family man, 5 door is so much more practical.  because its a gti it doesnt really matter if its 3 or 5.  also it will be tricky getting a baby seat in if you had any babies.  another point is wider doors of the 3 door means it can be awkward when you're parked in a carpark say...
btw i have a 5 door because it was more practical for my needs.

I guess im the only one that thinks 5dr actually looks better then

I think it's quite colour sensitive - I saw a red 5-door on a petol forecourt and really didn't like it, but the 5-door blue .:R32 I saw on the way home looked yummy.

3 door does look better, only people with 5 doors think they look the same ;) 3 door simply look curvier and more "sporty" as a result.

They don't. The proportions around the C-pillar are different and - let's be honest here - no matter which way it's spun, a 5-door is usually a compromis.... isn't it?

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

My lass just read this thread over my shoulder and said. 5 doors are for people with friends. 3 doors are for people with no friends or virtual  friends.
