wheelie annoying!!!
« on: 20 October 2009, 08:52 »
Morning all,
where to start, at the beginning would help I suppose!!
I bought some refurbished 18"VW wheels off a mate, then started to experience really violent vibrations on osf, had the wheels balanced and this seemed to cure the problem, then I drove it to Italy and back, and the vibrations came back (though not as bad) so I have swapped the wheels front to back, PROBLEM SOLVED, drive is as smooth as
then a couple of weeks ago I started to notice a "hollow" woo woo noise in the same place (osf), had my brakes checked, they are fine, the noise got worse so I had the bearing changed, the noise is quieter, but its getting worse again, I do have a slow puncture on that wheel, and have been told that there is some slight "stepping?" to the inside of the tyre.(inflating the tyre does not help)
so the plan now is to swap the two front wheels over to see if the noise follows the wheel, failing that, I am at a loss.
very sorry if I have posted in the wrong section but I dont really know where to post it!!
I wheelie hope you can help

2 guesses, 1) missing spigot rings, 2) tyre faulty.

OK, Daddy has swapped the wheels over this morning and noise is still there, he's had a bit of a look, but he's no mechanic!!
he says my cv boot is split, will this cause the noise?
and could someone be very kind enough to give step by step destructions on how to change it myself?
