mot's scary aren't they
« on: 15 October 2009, 17:48 »
This will be my first mot in the mk4, and hoping it'll sail through.  Anything i should check over before i send it in tomorrow? tyres, wipers (bar back squirty) and lights are all ok. If i dewiper the rear would it pass?

Its the bushes/suspension thats worrying me, what are they gonna check for so i can have a look tonight?

Also does the name of the garage that does the mot come up on the sheet? Its something motorsport. - would it put you off a car if the last mot was from somewhere with a similar name?

Ours is a week Monday.  I've never had an MOT and not been advised there's a bulb gone or something daft that they offer to put right.  Usually something obvious I've checked before hand too!
This time round I've bought 2 new tyres and replaced a chipped headlight, wipers and gave it a big ass service all in anticipation.
Only thing I tend to worry about with these new-fangled cars is the emissions...  bit of an unknown until its tested...  :undecided:

Anyone got a how to lying around for the rear bushes?

take it to a garage unless you want to lose a good 5 hours of your life lol

buy 2 new wishbones. not worth mucking about with the bushes unless you have access to a fly press

how much are wishbones? do they come with the bushes in? was gonna get power flex ones fitted to the rears, and do front and rear wishbone bushes. But might send it to the garage for the front ones if you need a press. Can't i just be a pikey and mallet them in?
