Missfire?
« on: 15 October 2009, 12:19 »
Hey guys just used the search tool but not sure if its missfire i should be searching for.

What ive noticed at 1900rpm in any gear the car jurks and seems liek it misses a beat.

So if im in third gear and hold it under 2k every 3-4seconds feels like it looses power for a split second and then just carries on as usual.

Any suggestions on a cure or solutions are welcome

Thank you.

By the way look out the window and admire your rides :-P

Sounds like the clutch is slipping to me?
Checked your sparks leads and dizzy?

Resonant vibrations + a dicky earth is my guess.

When it misses - if its a fuelling issue, then it will pause, the fire back up with no noticeable effects. If it is a spark issue, its likely to backfire when it fires up again (depending on how long).

always happens just under 2k revs so possibly the clutch?

The spark plugs were changed the other day and this issue was still happenign before the service.

Maybe its the timing?

Mine is the same will be getting to the bottom of it saturday cos the missus aint here and ill have all day to mess about with it.
Like ben says could be an earth problem,i know i got some to sort out along with blue senser and leads.

Would be nice if cleaning up an earth made it better but cant help thinking its gonna be down to blue senser more than anything.

Just for a test i took it for a drive with the blue senser disconnected and apart from the idle speed it drove exactly the same.
vw closed so couldn get another one.

Is it a standard engine or an ABF conversion by any chance?

ABF change the fuel pump and ecu relays 30 and 167 if I recall as Ive had this problem before the swines!
