Judder!!
« on: 12 October 2009, 16:55 »
hey guys, on my 1.8T i have a judder on first gear pull away, now im more into motorcycle mechanics than cars but im wondering if its clutch related. The problem is this, when you pull away as normal in first it judders like hell when accelerating untiyour of the clutch pedal, and you have to give it more throttle to counter the judder and get a smooth pull away whilst still on the clutch, now if you just lift the clutch pedal slowly and get rolling, no problems at all.
Has anyone ever had something that sounds like this? I have not and would like to try and find the problem before i go to replace something expensive just to find out it aint the problem!

all other gear changes and use of the clutch is fine no problems at all.

Worn clutch? incorrectly fitted clutch?

Thrust bearing? Does it make a noise in neutral which disappears when the clutch is depressed?

no it dont, but it does make a noise on startup that lasts a couple of seconds then goes away, like a whurring/spinning noise does it every time. about 2 seconds after startup. no other noises though.

That noise will be the starter motor
