No what I meant was, you could only pick a Golf GTI and couldn't specify whether it was a manual or DSG (auto) version....just struck me as odd as I would have thought the warranty for an auto would have cost more.

Some peeps just seem to get the hump if you try and tell them their beloved DSG is classed as an 'automatic gearbox'!

But yes, I would agree with the DSG costing more for any warranty claim. But maybe they know something we dont. Maybe the DSG is proving far more reliable than the manual - afterall, manual boxes still need clutch changes (which seem fairly bullet-proof on the DSG), and still have issues with the Dual Mass Flywheels going noisy (I'm not sure if DSGs use a DMF - anyone?).
Or maybe the warranty company just use the DVLA database to tell them the spec of the car?
