Golf Gti is getting LED back lights

Anyone know what the standard plug looks like and how it compares to this one on the LED unit?

The LED's are part of the update of the 2010 golf, therefore I think UK will get them at some point.

Also I can tell you that those changes will be GRADUALLY introduced from week 45, therefore it is not compulsory that all the cars coming out after week 45 will have the "new" specs.
Remember that is a 2010 update

Hi.

Just joined the forum.
I've just placed an order for a new GTI and as part of calling dealers \ brokers etc I also asked the LED question. That put the cat amongst them, and even got bounced from VW UK to VW .de for confirmation.
Dealers in UK I contacted (Inc the one where I'm buying the car from couldn't advise re LED lights). I called VW uk who advised don't know (or if will be part of 2010 spec cars as they didn't have that info yet).
However.... one VW dealer went to town on this for me (I advise would not buy the car at this point, if they were about to change it!).

What they asked and the responses:
LED in the UK from Nov onwards?...... No not at this time.
Would this be for 2010 spec cars?..... Can't get an answer
Will it be standard on GTI?................ No, the LED lights were options in de. Therefore if ever introduced in UK will prob be an option and not standard on the GTI.

I wonder if when they add the R models to the list for the Golf and Roc, they put the LED option on too.

I know we don't get all options from VW in the UK, but not too offer these seems silly when there is a lot of punters that would buy this option in the UK.

If they come on the RHD Golf R's, we'll be able to retro-fit them. If they don't, someone will find a way of swapping the fog and reverse lights and we'll be able to retro-fit them.

I think when/if these LED's appear for the GTI, we have a good shout for a big group buy. I'd definately want them.

LED's are standard on the UK spec Golf R (now on vw.co.uk web site at following link http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/#/new/golf-gti-vi/explore/gallery/golf-r-twin-exhausts/ ).

They actually do look nice (think rear lights change from Mk5 GTI which were excellent, to the older more bland looking lights on the Mk6 GTI was a poor move by VW). Note sure if they will change or add as an option for the Mk6 GTI (as still shows the cherry red clusters for the GTI in the VW gallery). However the price for the Golf R is nuts

Well it seems they didn't change anything to the GTi spec when adding the R to VW.co.uk.

It looks as if in Italy these are a no cost option, when ordering a GTi now, and in Germany as with most of the other options we get as standard its a cost option, something like €365.

On that basis, as the Italians seem to get a similar spec car to us, and things like the light and sight pack and multifunction wheel are standard on the UK car, do you think UK 2010 cars will get this as std?

I can't see any reason why we would not, especially as I'm sure enough new buyers would be interested in them?

I'm pretty 99% sure I will get a GTi for late March delivery, so would like to know if these are going to be at least an option, when placing an order later this month.

Got to say these look way better than the normal rear lights. Not sure if the adaptors are from VW or are aftermarket.
