LOL - this was the thread I was thinking about

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=131737.0

Yep... they are not my cuppa tea at all
They do have a resemblance, but the VW Motorsport ones are a bit meatier, and the middle is alot fuller.
The ones on the red car posted above look quite similar to MTM Bimotos - which were a big hit on the S3 forums!
I'll go try and add some brakes to my photoshop and see how it looks!

Booo to the Monza Shadow hating!!!

HATING is a strong word!  Just a mild dislike
Wouldn't do if everyone was the same - otherwise every car on the road would be identical... and we wouldn't have sites like barryboys taking the p1ss!!!

Actually... the more I look at the VW Motorsport wheels, the more I think they maybe are a bit skinny!
Its difficult to get a real idea with a photoshop as I'm a bit poop at it - but heres a pic of a Roc wearing them.  Its almost as 'heavy' as the Golf, so it should be a decent comparison.  The only thing is that they're so black in this photo that its actually difficult to see them!

Just been reading through that motor-talk thread using the google translator.
Apparently that car belongs to the owner of VW Individual... and the wheels are not original - they are polished!

Here is a quote from the autocar website from Monday.  Its about the Scirocco R, but its likely the Golf will follow the same guidelines...

"Volkswagen has confirmed its new Scirocco R will cost from 33,475 euro (£30,691) when it goes on sale in Germany later this year.

UK pricing has yet to be announced, but it is tipped to cost around £25,000 when it goes on-sale here due to exchange rates. Final pricing is expected to be confirmed later this month.
"

Hopefully that will mean the stated £28 - 28.5k price will stand here.  The Roc was originally announced as £26k!

We need to relax on the pricing of the Golf R. It is unlikely to cost more than £2K-£3K above the standard GTI or it risks not selling at all. VW isn't stupid, so expect it to retail at a basic price of £28,000 max. What's artificially inflating all car prices is the €/£ exchange rate. A normal rate would see a €33,000 Roc R sell at 22,000 assuming £1 = 1.50.

Golf R - almost on order - 5-door, DSG, Rising Blue, leather, 19" alloys, RNS510 with Dynaudio, ACC, Sunroof, Parking camera and sensors, luxury pack and cruise control.

Lol - depends on what you call normal. Most financial bods are predicting the pound to be at parity with the euro to be the "normal" rate ie 1 to 1

Also don't forget the R is much higher spec than the gti as basic so should cost much more than the 2-3k you mention.

Mk6 Golf GTI 5dr, DBP, Monza Shadow, Xenons, ACC, RCD510, Park Assist, Camera, Lux pack.... and now bluetooth.... and now DSG!

Quite right, but God help us if 1 = 1 does become the new rate! It could even be Gordon Brown's secret plan to force Britain to join the Euro! in any case, VW hedges against currency fluctuations, otherwise they wouldn't sell any cars here at all!!!

R highly specced? Hardly! AWD, 60 bhp+ and park assist and LED lights. That isn't too much extra kit if you ask me.

Basic gti 22-23k... Basic golf R expected to be 27-28k.....
My basic maths makes that 5k more (not 2-3k)

I just want them to officially open the order books so I can get a delivery date (approx)
Golf R (on order): 5dr, rising blue, 19", sat-nav, ACC, parking sensors, Bluetooth tel prep, cruise control, Lux pack, storage pack, rear airbag/seatbelt sensors..........BW07 confirmed Can't wait!
