cleaning bbs rm
« on: 05 October 2009, 20:21 »
Hi, I'm looking to take the bbs rm's off my car for the winter. I would like to clean them up before storing them. I was just going to use alloy wheel cleaner (the type you get in a trigger spray bottle) but I was advised not to use this (but didn't get chance to ask why!).

My question is what's best to use, apart from soap & water, as I dont want the risk of damaging any surfaces.

Thanks

You're only advised to not use an acidic cleaner if the dishes are polished, or if you have curbing as it can get under the paint/laquer and damage the alloy. Clean with your normal car shampoo and give them a coat of wax... should be fine.

Alot of people who ride motorbikes will fully clean there bikes and then cover them in vaseline. You could try that as it simply wipes off. Its just weather you have the balls to walk into boots and buy two large tubs!

I'm not sure about these motorbikers? Leather and vaseline dose not sound like my kind of a hobby...
