Hmmm, call me suspicious but both times when its dark. Are you sure your GTi isn't receiving unwelcome attention from some low life? :undecided:

More to the point I wouldn't have a clue what the alarm sounds like - I've never heard it!!!

I had the dog in the back of mine today and the alarm kept going off, how do I stop it?  On my old 307 you could lock the door with the key instead of the remote and this stopped the alarm going off.  I thought there was a little flap on the door handle where you could get into get at the key hole but mine wouldn't open anyone got any ideas? thanx

There used to be a valet button on the B pillar by the drivers door I think - press it before getting out of the car and arming the alarm. It disarms the ultrasonics.

With most VAG's you can take it into the stealers and get them to adjust the sensitivity of the ultrasonics - see if that helps.  As a temporary solution you could try shutting all the air vents before you get out of the car ...

This is assuming its just over sensitive and not a fault.

On the mk4s and 5's as mac7 says there is a button on the B pillar that disables the ultrasonics sensors, or press the lock button twice on the remote instead of once but this also disables the deadlocks (mk4 and mk5 - but given VW's lack of imagination its probably true for the 6 as well).

I have a dog in my R all the time, in the MK5 as mentioned by Mac7 you could disable the interior sensors if you need to leave a dog in the car. Have they removed this from the MK6? Surely not? Quite an important feature in my opinion!

i might be wrong but i was under the impression if you press the key to lock the car, then press the same button again it locks the car but disables the interior sensors.

There is a button on the B pillar as mentioned above, press it before exiting the car then lock as usual. It dissables the sensors inside untill you open it again and then it resets bk to normal, my alarm went off once. Went outside to check and realised i'd left the kids in the bk
