Cooling fans not going on!
« on: 18 September 2009, 10:09 »
I have a mk3 gti 8v 2e, the cooling fans does not go on, ive replaced the temp sensor, fan switch (does not get hot), t-stat (bottom hose ice cold)! dont know what else could be wrong. The car runs at 110 deg (not F) when standing and driving (freeway or bumper to bumper) any help will do! i do not wish to connect the fan streight as it doesnt solve the problem! i had it done before.

Have you direct wired the fans to a power source, to check the motors are OK?

Check there's not a fused link strip in there somewhere - they can sometimes fracture where VW have specified them - the link looks OK, but there can be a gap just out of sight.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

If it really is reaching that temp when driving then your either air locked or your radiator is shot

If I were you I would remove the bottom hose to drain coolant, then flush radiator with hose and make sure its running freely and then follow this guide to refill and bleed.
