Thanks for the comments, I'm still going through that excitement of a new car coupled with the worry that the GTI is a dam good car and I'll regret getting rid of it...
I did say to the salesman that people won't let me out of junctions, I have the feeling I need to buy some Oakley sunglasses and a Bluetooth headset to complete the effect.
I like the coupe too but I fancy something I can put the roof down on to get the full effect of the bonkers engine at 8000rpm. I still can't get over that a 3.2 six revs to that in a normal road car

I'll certainly report back on how it compares to the GTI but on the basis of the test drive it just seems very focused at going preposterously fast and to hell with anything that gets in the way, whereas the GTI really does do everything well. Found out it's got a proper LSD as well so I think I'll be spending some time looking out of the side windows when leaving roundabouts

.
Here's a couple of pictures I took on my phone, it's quite a rare colour, Sepang Bronze, which apparently is only available on the Z4M and M5 and M6. The more I see it the more I like it, it's subtle but distinctive (or awful, depending on your taste!)
Yeah, keeping it German!
