G60 Arches have arrived!
« on: 13 September 2004, 10:01 »
Got them Thursday last week, now i need a trip to the body shop to assess the damage they want to fit them.

They are originals and came nicely wrapped all in a VAG box that was rather big.  They have these inserts on the underside of the arch, never noticed them on my existing ones, perhaps these were different for G60 wings and the wings have the holes for the inserts.

Anyway, i think they'll have the cut the inserts off??  Not sure.  First things first, take mine off, any ideas how to do this??  I might take the bumpers off and the complete kit so that they don't have much to do with the removal of parts.

What do i tell them to do with the metal.  I need most of it cut away as i've got 9 X 16 rims which rub like a b!tch.

Any advice appreciated!

yeah i cut the inserts off.

Some people say that you need to seal the underside of the arches to stop water entering....Mine have drainage gaps so i didnt seal them :-\

ohh and you drill out the pop rivets in your old arches and they should come off easy.

When refitting your new arches you might need to take the bumpers off to get the plastic to sit behind the bumper bracket

What do they do with the metal?  Cut as much away as possible??  Will the arches still rub??

have no clue mate.

If they cut too much metal out then you wont be able to rivet the plastic arches to the bodywork and will have to glue them down.

Are you running coilovers or stiffer suspension? where does it rub? inner tyre or outer tyre?
if it rubs on the inner tyre then im guessing you have standard suspension as the springs are wider than coilies.

They arches could still rub depending on how far out the wheel sits.

Im worried about this problem with my Design 90's, thats why im abit wary :-\
