the part turned up today.. its all been fitted..

when i got back there the guy had the laptop hooked up and was going through looking at stuff.. he also checked the ignition timing.

the car now idles naturallly at 995 rather than 1200.

cost me bugger all too as they prob charged for half time they've really spent on it :)

now here's where this gets -really- funny..

the specialist took it to a garage up the road that they use for their MOTs.. they put the car on the emissions equipment there.. it passed.. its waaaaaaay inside the margins..

i have the sheet from that original failure.

the UPPER limit for the low idle test is 925 RPM.. the car still idles above that.. and theres nothing wrong with it!

for the other machine the upper limit is 1500.. i would have passed on that first time round.

i have the sheet from the test they ran at the other place.

this new -modern- machine must be failing loadsa stuff that was previously fine!!

whenit fails again, am gonna explain to them how much they suck ass.. and go get a pass at the other place!? :D

cool glad you sorted it. But don't waste your money with the other garage just to tell them they suck just stick with teh one where you know it will pass.

MOT stations varry so much, some let things slip past some just don't notice stuff (in some cases, that you wish they had to have kept you safe)

I have a great MOT place even with me being a women they don't tyy it on with this and that needs doing, they know that people change car lights etc.. over for the MOT etc.. but to save me doing this, the just write on teh form that I had stickers on to change the pattern from LHD ro right, so then they are covered and I pass my MOT without the hassle of changing the lights!

yeah in future i will go prob elsewhere.. hehe

thing is though. i like using this place because they aren't a garage, they just do MOTs.. so there is no way they could be "fishing for work"

now here's something funny...

this morning i went for me free (woohoo.. ) retest..

i went fully expecting to fail, and to take it to the other place to get a pass.. but? at the same idle which showed 995 on the laptop at the specialists, the new MOT station equipment where it had failed previously showed 890/900.. MOT guy told me theirs is more accurate.

it was gonna fail the low idle again.. after doing all the other rev ranges etc.. the low came and would go in and out of the low idle range box.. so they guy at the MOT place stuck it in 3rd and lifted the clutch a little to put some load on so it sat in the box..

result ;)

glad its over.. till next year... :)

the most coomon mot station fiddle is headlamp beam alignment, my friend goes to this mot station and every year they recon his headlamps are out of alignment. he does not seem bothered by this but they are conning him.
thing is with beam alignment is they say its too low and if you go off and adjust it they say its still out, a lot of ststions seem to do this con.

at this station they will fix it for you on the spot, and will even flip the bulbs if they're upside down.. thats a real common thing :)

actually this time they even confirmed my headlight adjustment was working, i always thought it didnt work, but he said "u got beam adjusters, if so is it on 0." i'm like um.. yeah thought it didnt work... set it to 0 anyways. and bingo he says thats it :)

the old force the bulb in the wrong way how do people do this without breaking the bulb ???
most charge to adjust the beams in my friends car there was no beam/load compensator.
on another note my motorbike has been off the road for nerarly 2 years due to the exhaust having no bs stamp on it even though its not as loud as a lot of end cans with one >:( >:(
