Neilgcal, if you don't mind me asking what dealer was that or what area are they based in?
I'm getting my Golf from a Glasgow dealer, Dalmarnock area.

Yeah thats the one. 15 weeks and still waiting .. the light at the end of the tunnel must be near!!

Any particular reason why you went to Glasgow instead of local in Aberdeen, Peterhead or Elgin apart from maybe price?

Just price, i could get it GBP 2000 cheaper in Glasgow than i could in Aberdeen. Im quite often down in Glasgow so thought it wouldn't be too much hastle to get it from there.

I have a cherished plate and the only dealers I have dealt with that can actually manage to transfer them with success is BMW. Rule of thumb with them is take it off your car and put it on retention, pick you new car up and then transfer it. It can't hold anything up then! I don't know why they have to make it so complicated though!!

hmmm, i have a cherished plate on retention and was going to get the dealer to fit it also pre-delivery.  having some doubts now.  however i'd prefer to have VW branded plates than some aftermarket place, plus i presume the VW dealer isn't going to charge me for the plates.

Mk6 Golf GTI 5dr, DBP, Monza Shadow, Xenons, ACC, RCD510, Park Assist, Camera, Lux pack.... and now bluetooth.... and now DSG!

there should be no messing about if it's on retention.. it only gets complicated transferring from one vehicle to another (i tried for aaaages to get a plate from an old mk1 golf, but failed because i had no chance of getting an mot on it  )
