For obvious reason genuine will always be a better fit and made from better material but then it boils down on how much money you have to spend really. As far as i'm aware all the wings are the same regardless of been a GTI or not and simply boly on/off.
Have you thought about getting a couple from a breakers yard?

The vw ones will probably last another 15 years, but will the car?

I paid a tenner for one at a breakers. Remember the indicators changed in 95 to oval from square.

Also worth noting that GTI's came with the plastic arches too. I bought a GTI wing for my non GTI and when I removed the plastic arch I found the wing to be rotten. Took it back and swapped it for a non GTI wing :)

Oh and another thing, I think the later SE's/GTI's/VR6's came without an aerial hole

i would personally go for genuine vw wings, i know of people that have bought non-genuine parts an within 6mths - 1year had problems with them. also u may not get an exact fit from them and panels not lining up properly

Oh ok i thought they were fitted to the later mk3's as mentioned above on the change over year, 96. Quite a few little tweaks and updates were applied then as far as i'm aware....unless yours was fitted as an aftermarket item?
