  • you could call it complex simplicity?!
i have just completed a bike carb conversion on my golf, as said before, goes well, sounds bad-a*se but had loads of propblems getting the fueling right. i used carbs off a GSXR 1000, a redtop facet fuel pump and a king fuel pressure regulator, had a manifold made using the original.

Is it worth it putting bike carbs onto my counterflow 1.3?

No.

Get a big boy's engine instead.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

I've never heard of a counterflow 1.3 vag engine...

If you mean crossflow, I say do it.  It'll transform your really boring engine into a fun one.

Nah its counterflow 1272 8v, in my 1.3 golf. Cant afford to insure a big boys engine though cos im only 18, thats why i was thinking about bike carbs, for a little extra go and that beastly noise!

Find a driver 1600 engine, I understand it's a direct swap for the 1300. I had a weber replacement carb, gti cam, fettled manifold, homebrew exhaust, went like stink and sounded like a spitfire only louder!!
That was when I was 18, much more subdued now...

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

Hello Mr Insurance Person.  I'm calling you to let you know that I've put bike carbs on my 1.3 Golf engine.

Will there be any change to my policy, I'm 18?

Sorry, what's that?  I can hardly hear you for the laughing.

Here's a long, tall glass of reality.  Take a big gulp.

Oh let me guess, you didn't think you'd need to tell your insurers?

whats insurance

Something old people don't pay very much for.  It's a complete mystery why, too.
