If it is only doing it when cold then the problem is in the warm up circuit (cold start) I would think.

Doubt if its in safe mode if its revving once hot.

Yes but when it warms up it can come out.

I've seen similar things on other cars.

Not saying it is, but it could be.  :undecided:
Golf MK3 1.8 auto and I didn't pay a grand for the "priveledge", auto windows all round and a AC. Oh and I've got a luggage net you pricks!

Does that make my willy look bigger?

Oh yeah it's called Helda or something....

Cool, cheers for the help.

What ever it is, would you say it was an expensive/big problem? say worst case scenario.

Might go take a gander and have a test drive anyway. wouldn't hurt

How long is a piece of string, could be something simple and cheap or could be a living nightmare hence why he is selling up.

If its just lumpy on cold, but will go if u ragg the balls of it.

Could just be a blocked up vac hose, breather hose, or sh!tty throttle body.

My 8v is the same.

It is worth a gamble if cheap enough.

Already on the check list

Had that on my old 1.6

I think he may be persuaded to go lower, seeing as he's had no interest at all. He only lives 30 seconds away as well.

Ok so went to have a look earlier, wasnt too bad. Body work was pretty good for the year. The cold running problem he was talking about seemed to be non existent!! but he seemed to think there was something wrong so I wasn't going to disagree  He reckoned it hesitated when taking it over 5 grand when cold. All I could really think was why the hell would you want to take it over 5 grand when its cold!!!

Only thing was on the test drive, it didn't seem to pull much harder than my 8v GTi.

That can't be right, can it????
