As for performance clutches the higher spec you get, the snappier they get.

an lsd would improve a standard powered golf! they really are great. but are best used on a track, they are a bit wasted on the public roads unless your not that attached to your license

I have a CDA code cable-change gearbox with flywheel and clutch as well as the cable-clutch converter in Bristol.

£70 the lot.

Makes a lot more sense than nailing another rod-change in there.

Negligable at improving the performance on the road really, Simpley put there is no point.

If you wouldn't benefit from an LSD you aren't driving challenging enough roads fast enough in cr@ppy enough conditions in a 2WD car.

In the wet I'm confident it would let me get more power down from the Syncro - an LSD is definitely going in when I need to rebuild the gearbox.

So do you guy's reckon an uprated diff will make alot of difference to the way my mk2 handles regardless of whether its on the road or track?

My experience of LSD's is in rear wheel drive cars only - where it enables me to put alot more power down out of corners in what is normaly a very tail happy car, and I think is a worthwhile investment.

I've fitted uprated roll bars, adjustable shocks, poly bushes, brakes and tyres to improve handling on my mk2 but won't waste money on an expensive LSD for a front wheel drive car unless it is worthwhile.

Perhaps I'll fit this gearbox, run it in, so to speak and then change the diff further down the line.

Just think about the times when you've lost traction on a front-driver - what would the car have done if you'd been able to put that power down?

When I've seen FWDers with an LSD they've been very impressive through twisty stuff, but most of them have been +200bhp
