8v - apparently the low bhp and torque make it a better car

Really

I don't think I ever said an 8v was better than a 16v, it is however smoother to drive, but 16v's are great if you want to drive everywhere at 4000rpm plus.

That won't fit in a golf, and the 2.6 is only 150bhp

Only yanking your chain

Tickover set at 4000rpm on my 16v

As I've said before the choice depends on your driving needs and style. It all depends on what you use your car for, daily commute, weekend fun transport, tracking, racing, or taking your mum down the shops.

Modifying cars can become addictive as Mikester is finding out, you can either go for the best possible to be better than everyone else, the best you can afford, or the sensible option and spend your money on sex drugs and rock and roll (or hip hop or whatever you youngsters listen to now!!)

If everyone was sensible and the same it would make for a boring world and there would be a lot less threads on this subject.

Mikester go with your heart buy and fit the engine you think will make you happy - spend a little more if it will save you doing it twice, don't spend out on a compromise, if you want the R32 go for it. If you fit a 16v or VR6 will you then regret not fitting the R32. Life is too short for regrets.

Good luck with your choice.

Yeah but the 8v is better. Its got more torque than a 16v.
8v and vr6 are the best mk3 engines
