Hi All,
I saw my first MK6 GTI yesterday on the road and it looked really well. I have one issue though. The DRL sidelights. When the standard golf MK6 came out I remember thinking they looked terrible. They are a stupid yellow colour. Now as the GTI is the flagship model I hoped VW would have upgraded the DRLs to a nice crystal white colour, Audi style. In my opinion I think the yellow look of the DRLs ruins the look of the car on the move.
For those of you with a MK6 GTI, or for anyone who knows, can the DRL bulbs be changed, if so what type of light bulb are they? I know the sidelights in the MK5 are W5W but I assume these DRLs are different as they are more powerful. Is the only way to turn off the DRLs through VagCom? Also, are the DRLs in the MK6 the sidelight, ie on the light control in the car there is now just OFF, Auto and Dipped beam?
Sorry for all the questions but hopefully some can be answered. Thanks

Edit: Ref below, the car I refer to seeing yesterday was on a GTI without xenons. I am yet to see a MK6 Golf of any variant with xenons so I am not sure how the DRLs on the xenon cars are....
