the safe mode and throttle body

i've read a few topics where some struggle 2 rev their golfs to 5k rpm and it wont go any further,this is then called the safe mode.
i've had exactly the same problem on my golf after i fitted a k&n panelfilter and stripped the throttle body for a good clean.was planning
to give it a go on the motorway,it didn't happen.when stationary the revs was clean and all the way,as soon i started driving it was like a misfire and struggled to get to 5k rpm.parked the golf,checked the mass air meter and all the ding dongs-nothing wrong,then it hit me,what a muppet i is,   forgot to plug the wires back in to the throttle body,after that she was healthy again,and the motorway did see me and i was happy as bugs.

just thought this might shine some light on future safe mode issues.

thats a bloody good point... mine started to loose power and rev to 5k and splutter after i cleaned out the throttle body, pipes and changed the air filter... i just drove 70miles with the MAF unplugged and the only problem i had was high fuel consumption.

Drove back with MAF plugged in and had to pull over and take it out coz it drove me nuts it was like driving with a flat tyre it was so ruff...

As soon as the rain stops i'll go out and see if ive missed something...

hi mate,yeah i was baffled out of my brains,thinking i made a improvement so what whent wrong
u know where the breather pipe connects back on the throttle body,its just below on the left.let us know how its turns out.

Sounds like you need another MAF unit, driving with it disconeected will do more harm than good.

Yeah i know its not good for it but id just signed up with free sex dates and got a shag for the weekend so my dick got the better of me so i risked it...

On my travels i also realised its not a goood idea to put your dodgy front tyres on the rear and drive around roundabouts in the wet.. I wasn't driving fast or anything and the tyres are still just about legal but i flicked it into a roundabout and ended up doing a 180...

Its fair to say my pants were well soiled and it really put the sh!ts up me coz it really shouldnt have done that its just lucky i didnt hit anythng and no one is dead and no damage...

Felt like a idiot tho and the people on the road must have thought i was a right knob..
