I've got the full height display and was able to change auto lock etc through this and the stalk controls. Can I change the bonging too, it fook's me off something cronic, especially when parking etc as I like to have the seatbelt off but f**k me I feel like torching the stupid thing sometimes.

Almost definitely the passenger seat

The one thing i hate about my GTI the bloody bong every time you turn the ignition on !!!!!!!!!!!.

You can change this through VAGCOM so that it only "bongs" once you reach 10mph, rather than as soon as the ignition is turned on. I did this and also set the door autolock function to come on at the same time/speed

Same here although I have turned off the bong completely. Auto lock is good BUT Im thinking about taking it off as I let the car run for 20 odd seconds the doors wont unlock until I take the keys out and people have almost yanked the handle off trying to get out the car not realising you have to pull it twice if its still locked  :undecided:

LOL....There's a little button to unlock all the doors whenever you want  rather than using the ignition

lol I know but people seems to be desperate to get out the car as soon as its stops (cant imagine why ) and doesnt give me time to unlock it :D :D :D

Is that something to do with what's called "the Mk5 effect" Alan????

Its a safety "feature" (VW get a higher NCAP rating by having it turned on) and can only be done via VAGCOM.

Where in VCDS do I do this?
Am still new to it and not enough time to fiddle around with all the settings yet.
Only figured out how to use long-coding the other day!

It is while since it was done. It is in the convenience settings from memory
