Thanks for the replies guys.

Although a bigger more powerfull 2.0 would be attractive i would like to keep my Valver as standard as pos, im not really into all that mod'ing and making cars bigger wider lower and faster, if that was what it was about i would have bought a faster car in the first place!

One of the reasons i wanna do the replace or rebuild is cos i have few slight issues i need to sort out any way, they are not major and the engine does run well, idles fine and pulls well but things like oil in the air filter and breather pipe, small rocker gasket leak, dizzzy oil seal seems to have a small leak and would just like to generally have a tidy up as its not the tidiest engine and bay in the world. Thought after the 18 years of running it has had i may be down a fair few horses so would have liked to get it back up to original figures and thought a rebuild would have done the trick.

if thats the aim,  don't rebuild the motor but give it a good going over.

most of those are common niggels for a 16v  most of them arn't mialage related but more seals going off with age. have the injector cleaned or just replace them and take it to a rolling road and have it setup  i would expect it to up on factory specs
