cost of a gearbox change...

Anybody got a rough price a back street garage will charge to change my 02a gearbox
over as ive just got a replacement with the driveshafts still attached....
its a mk3 16v

just wondering how much i need to save...

Think you might find that prices will vary a bit.

I had my 020 box replaced last week whilst i was on holiday (very quick turnaround) and that came to £250 all in, unfortunatly i didnt have the time to shop around so i cannot say if that is a bad price or not, although to me it doesnt sound to far off.

Thats how much it usually costs just to replace a clutch, so that is a good deal.

I've just been quoted £160+vat to replace the 02a in my 16v.

Around £150 to £250 really, not that hard to do.

have you got the box? if so il chat to my mate whos a mechanic and changed my box for me

dude change the box yourself, its piss easy :-D

just remove the shafts of yuor new box and that makes it even more easier

Yes,Ive got a box ready to go in...

would i need to remove the driveshafts on the car to stick the new box in or
can i just unbolt them at the gearbox end?
