Hottuning coilover problem.HELP PLEASE

Basically the star bit in the middle of the bit that comes into the engine bay has been rounded and you can no longer turn the nut on the outside so they aren't tight enough. Does anyone have any suggestions how to fix this because it isn't tighetning all the way and its causing problems.thanks

Your going to struggle tbh mate if its the bit i think you mean - can you not get a set of mole grips around the shaft of the shock (using a rag for protection)?

Knowing my bloody luck it is the bit your thinking?Would a mole grips actually be able to hold the shock though?Do they sell the coilovers as a set only does anyone know?

i hae them also and yh think they can only be bought in a set but as you should no they are prety cheap

Well i have used this method to tighten the strut top nuts on normal shocks before, but i don't know if you will be able to get access with coilies?

Failing that the only other thing i can think of is to weld something onto the top of the strut to hold it steady whilst you undo the nut? Of course the shock is then deffo scrap metal...  :sad:

best way would be to get a windy gun on the nut, thats how i tightened mine up.

i have one good coilover from ones fitted to my old golf. the other had broken seal and leaked. think its a Jamex coilover.

Me and my mate done this today, by putting a mole grips around the shock. All sorted now thank god. :smiley: Did find out by one coilover and it was £89 delivered in case someone ever needs one
