water in the fuel

just booked my car in to have the whole injection system overhauled/tuned (1 month waiting time).
while i was in there we were talking about costs of parts etc and the guy said about the rusty filler neck problem aparently according to them its not so much the rust getting in the tank thats the problem as the fuel filters stop muck getting into the main injection components its water getting in to the fuel system that screws up the metering head etc. they seem to know their stuff and have been in business for a very long time and judging by the 1 month fully booked times they must be reasonably good.

Thats very true, the only time rust is a problem is when it's so bad the fuel struggles to get through the pipes to even make it to the filter.  How much did this overhaul cost that you've booked?

the tune up and checking of the whole injection system is about ?50, they then will call me with a list of any parts that need replacing before doing it. also they will be checking and possibly replacing the engine mounts.
hopefully its not too bad and i have a spare metering head incase theres a problem.
only downside is the 1 month wait till i can take it in. they have been bosh specialists for years and seemed to know the answer to anything i could ask, i beleive they will do a good job.
