disconected wires?
« on: 23 August 2004, 21:41 »
Anyone one know what these would do if connected? the single wire has a male and female, where as the otherfemale has no male that I cansee to connect to!

Thes are just below the fuse box btw

Don't want to mess with them until i know what they do :)

Those male and female wires look like your heater elements either for your rear window dismenser or for heated electric mirrors (if you have them)

Just connect them up ;)

Havnt had a look in months so dont hold me to this.

I'll get a test on them and flick a few switches to see what controls them.  Not sure if it has heated mirrors though, would be nice if it did :) Guess these are controlled via the the rear de-misster switch?

OK, tested them, the single one is connected to the lights! Goes live on side and full! As I have a single grill i guess these were for the other two lights can someone confirm this?

I tested the other one but as it's the female I found to live on any of the switches, here is the code on the side of the plastic:

If that's any help :)

Could be for a diesel or anything else really. A wiring loom is pretty much a wiring loom for a golf.

if you want to know if you have heated mirrors just leave the heated rear screen on for 10 mins and then touch the mirror. it'll be warm if you have :)

I have those exact wires on my golf, except mine are on the other side as i have a valver in a mk1. but its that suspect green wire hanging down, I've always wondered what it did. I can answer one of your questions, its not to do with the twin headlamps as mine are still there and dont run off this. Driving lamps perhaps?

looking at the photo the wire on the right(i think)is for the heated mirrors, they plug into this then work when the rear demist is on, if you havent got the mirrors the wire is redundant and on mine it wasnt connected at either end
