I've decided to go for it. I left the car with them this morning and told them to get on with colour-coding both the front and rear bumpers. I've also asked them to get rid of the mudflaps so they'll be up for sale soon in the classifieds. PM me if interested! PS - they haven't got the little VW logo on them before anyone asks.

List of things to be done:

- Tailgate removed, re-sprayed and then re-fitted
- Front bumper replaced and re-sprayed, including colour-coding
- Rear bumper replaced and re-sprayed, including colour-coding
- New number plates front and rear
- New number plate holders front and rear

The garage reckon they only need the car for 3-4 days

Ben,

Are they removing the bumpers as well or are they already off?

If you colour code the plastic at the bottom of the bumper like someone said they will have to be flattened, but also they will need plastic primer.

Is it worth doing if you are upgraing the exhaust in future plans?

Just out of interest are you debadging the tailgate and what have you been quoted for the work?

The time you have been quoted is about right as they will prep, prime let that rest for a day before top coat and laquer and polishing

The bumpers are being replaced because both are cracked so the colour-coding work will be done before the bumpers go back on.

I'm not planning on upgrading the exhaust so being a diesel it will remain hidden. If money was not object (and I had a petrol car) I would have the R-line rear bumper and twin exit mk4 R32 exhaust

I'm not debadging the tailgate. The badges are being re-fitted after it has been re-sprayed. The cost of having the boot put right is £300. The cost of replacing the bumpers, having them sprayed, colour-coded and fitted is £1000.

Will hopefully be picking it up on Friday after I have fitted my new german style number plates and ABT Tuning number plate holders
