Should one wave?
« on: 02 June 2009, 09:27 »
When one encounters a fellow Mk 5er? I confess the idea makes me feel a bit foolish but wouldn't want to let the side down if its expected. Haven't been waved too myself yet though....or do I have to go first lol??!

I give a salute but it's not always reciprocated...

Are most mk5 owners VW enthusiasts?  I would say 99% are not so you'll get loads of blank expressions if you do wave.  Mk1/2/camper/original beetle owners would be.

I always try to analyse first b4 a flash or wave, but by then its too late! but then I havent seen many Golf gti's etc...a couple of pensioners in a ED30 most times, thats about it!
But when I have waved to the odd golf I get a funny look.... 'like who's that cu*t '

Yes one should.  And one will find that in 90% of cases, one will either be ignored or looked at like one has a mental problem

I've flashed and nodded and got a nod back once :D

Not bothered otherwise, there's too many about - it would take most of my journey up just flashing and waving!

The thing is, the chance is high in any situation when one waves! not just in a golf!....
Next time when your out driving just wave to a random person and out of reaction, they will wave back before they think ''Who's that!?'' ....quite funny!!
(and I don't mean the Bus w8nker's wave!)

Yep thats very true :D

Also does anyone else with Xenons keep getting flashed by other road users (usually in old cars) thinking you've got high beam on or something?
